Our Story

More than just a place to stay - we're kind of a love letter to the mountains

Where We've Been

Started as a modest mountain lodge back in '87, we've grown into something special without losing what made us... well, us.

1987
Original Cinderrah Lodge 1987
The Beginning

Margaret and Tom Chen opened what they called "a cozy spot for folks who wanted the mountains without the fuss." Eight rooms, a fireplace you could roast marshmallows in, and coffee strong enough to wake the bears.

Hotel expansion 1998
Growing Up

Added the west wing and got ourselves a proper restaurant. Guests kept asking "where's the spa?" so we figured we'd better listen. Sometimes the best ideas come from the people staying with you.

2010
Spa and wellness center opening
The Spa Era

Opened the full wellness center we'd been dreaming about. Hot stone massages after a day on the slopes? Yeah, we figured that out. People started calling us a "destination" which felt kinda fancy.

2019
Luxury suites renovation
Modern Touch

Big renovation of our suites - all the modern comforts you'd want, but kept that mountain lodge soul. New doesn't have to mean soulless, y'know?

Still Growing

We're not done yet. Every season brings something new, but that original vibe from '87? That stays. Come see what we're all about.

What We're About Now

Honestly? We're just really good at making people feel at home when they're far from it. Here's what that looks like these days.

Rooms That Get It

From snug rooms perfect for solo adventurers to suites where you can spread out - we've got 47 spaces designed for actual humans, not just Instagram.

Food Worth Staying In For

Our restaurant's head chef trained in Montreal and Vancouver but cooks like your cool aunt who travels. Local ingredients, global inspiration, zero pretense.

Spa That Actually Relaxes You

Not the kind where you stress about doing it "right." Just skilled therapists, mountain views, and that floaty feeling afterwards where you forget what day it is.

Mountain Guides Who Know Their Stuff

Want to find the secret powder stashes or that viewpoint nobody else knows about? Our guides have been exploring these mountains for decades between them.

The People Behind It All

We're kind of a family here. Some of us started as seasonal staff and never left. Can't really blame 'em.

Sarah Chen, General Manager
Sarah Chen

General Manager

Daughter of our founders, Sarah grew up literally running through these halls. She left for hospitality school in Switzerland (fancy, right?), worked at some big-name hotels, then came back home because, in her words, "nowhere else felt right." Been running things since 2015 and honestly can't imagine anyone doing it better.

Marcus Dubois, Executive Chef
Marcus Dubois

Executive Chef

Marcus showed up for a winter season in 2008 and just... stayed. Turns out when you can make magic with local ingredients and actually listen to what guests want, people notice. His wild mushroom risotto is basically legendary around here, and he still gets excited about farmer's market trips.

Amélie Laurent, Spa Director
Amélie Laurent

Spa & Wellness Director

Trained in both traditional and modern wellness practices across Europe and Asia. Amélie joined us in 2016 and completely transformed our spa into something special. She believes in treatments that actually work, not just ones that sound impressive on paper. Her team loves her, which tells you everything.

James Kowalski, Head Concierge
James Kowalski

Head Concierge

Ask James anything about Whistler and you'll get not just an answer, but three secret alternatives nobody else knows about. Been with us 12 years, knows every trail, every restaurant owner, and somehow remembers returning guests' names from years ago. Pure magic.

Kayla Winters, Lead Mountain Guide
Kayla Winters

Lead Mountain Guide

Former competitive skier who decided teaching people to love the mountains was more fun than racing down them. Kayla's got the patience of a saint and the knowledge of someone who's spent half their life outdoors. She'll get you to places that'll make you forget to check your phone.

Our Philosophy (If We Had to Put It Into Words)

Look, we're not gonna pretend we've got some revolutionary approach to hospitality. We just think hotels should feel like the best version of home - comfortable enough to relax in your pajamas til noon, nice enough that you feel a bit special, and run by people who genuinely give a damn.

We've seen trends come and go. Minimalism, maximalism, all the -isms. What never goes out of style? Treating people right. Remembering their coffee order. Giving them the quiet room they asked for. Making sure their anniversary dinner is actually special.

Yeah, we've got the luxury part down - quality linens, top-notch spa treatments, food that'll make you question your home cooking. But what we're really proud of? People leave here feeling like they just spent time with friends who happen to have a really nice place in the mountains.

We've got a room with your name on it. Well, not literally - that'd be weird. But you get the idea.
